This
program is offered through School of Accountancy and Computer Information
Systems Department.
This program is designed
to meet the needs of students who want to build a strong background in
application, auditing and assurance of information and information and
communication technology (ICT) in accounting.
Graduates
will be well prepared for careers in IT auditing, but also for a variety of
other areas such as accounting, information systems, consulting, and
assurance, especially in environments that involve integrated use of ICT in
their accounting systems.
It is offered by the CIS
Department in the Robinson College at Georgia State University, ranked by
U.S. News & World Report as first in the southeast and eighth in the
nation; and by the Communications of AIS as the leading producer of
IS research in the world.
The
classes are taught by faculty in School of Accountancy and Computer
Information System department. Most of them are tenure-track faculty and
that the remainder will be Clinical faculty members who are research-active,
have significant business experience and/or current business engagement.
The
rise in legislation and guidelines such as the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) act has
triggered great demand for IT Audit and Security Compliance professionals.
This is a relatively recent development in the IT and the business sector in
general; thus there is a current shortage of knowledgeable professionals in
the field.
The MISAC program is designed to meet the
requirements of the model curriculum for the CISA certification examination
conducted by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (CISA).
Graduates of the MISAC program are expected to be
well prepared to take both the CPA and the CISA certification examinations.
