products; international trade management; customs brokerage;
consulting and supply chain design; e-commerce solutions; logistics
and distribution capabilities, and a variety of financial services
related to the supply chain.
Internship Experience:
I had been working as an intern with e-solutions, UPS during the
fall of 2003. UPS was founded in 1907 as a messenger company in the
United States; UPS has grown into a $30 billion corporation by clearly
focusing on the goal of enabling commerce around the globe. Today UPS,
or United Parcel Service Inc., is a global company with one of the
most recognized and admired brands in the world. The E-solutions
department is primarily concerned with the www.ups.com website, and
the usage of the website to leverage its business. I was part of a
pilot project in the web analytics group, which analyzed the trends of
the website usage to help marketing campaigns.
My experience in UPS had been an enriching one, and a learning
experience. Being the first real work experience I had in the United
States, this internship taught me the corporate culture, business
ethos, and the importance of attention to detail. There is one
particular instance in my experience with UPS where I was stunned to
see how seemingly small matters may go a long way in the department’s
success.
I thank both the CIS department and UPS for having provided me with
this wonderful opportunity of getting to know more about Corporate
America. I am sure this learning experience will go a long way in
enriching my career.
